Why Choose DISTROKID?

DistroKid is the easiest way for musicians to get music into Spotify, Apple, Amazon, Tidal, TikTok, YouTube, and more. Unlimited uploads, keep 100% of your earnings, and more features than any other music distributor.

Figures like Ed Sheeran, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, and many others have utilized DistroKid's services to broaden their audience and share their art.

Who pays better DistroKid or TuneCore?

So yes, DistroKid pays out 100% of the money they receive from Merlin – but they don't receive 100% of what the stores pay out. So in essence, TuneCore's payouts to artists are better. In fact, in their history, they've paid out over $2,000,000,000.00 to artists. (Yup, that's 2 BILLION dollars)

How do I get paid by DistroKid?

DistroKid supports a large number of payout options through our payment provider, including PayPal, ACH, wire transfer, eCheck, or even a paper check! Keep in mind, different methods may or may not be available to you based on your location.

Does DistroKid monetize your music?

DistroKid takes a percentage only if you choose the optional "Social Media Pack" Album Extra for any of your releases. This service identifies YouTube and TikTok videos using your music and enables monetization on those videos.

Does DistroKid pay for YouTube views?

You're paid for each monetized play of your music. A "monetized" play is when YouTube displays an ad on the video, or when a YouTube Music paying subscriber listens (in which case you're paid, pro-rata, based on how much they're paying and what percentage of the time they listened to your tracks).

Which big artists use DistroKid?

 Distrokid LOVE

·         Ludacris. “ DistroKid is the future. ...

·         Arizona Zervas. “ DistroKid has been a great platform to release my music over the years!

·         Rob Scallon

·         Kei Henderson, 21 Savage

·         Ari Herstand

·         John LaMacchia

·         Zach Marsh

·         Todd Bryanton

How much does DistroKid pay per 1,000 streams?

Average Earnings Per Stream

On average, artists might expect to earn somewhere between $0.003 to $0.005 per stream on Spotify through DistroKid. This means that for every 1,000 streams, an artist can earn approximately
$3 to $5. However, it's crucial to note that these figures are average estimates and can fluctuate.

The 5 Best Microphones for Recording Drums

Mic'ing an acoustic drum set is a big job—not exactly as straightforward as pointing a single mic at your guitar cab and hitting record.

Because of all of the sonic differences between all the elements of the kit—from your snare to toms, kick, and cymbals—mic'ing up your drum set requires a few different kinds of mics suited to each piece.

Below, we've gathered a list of five of our go-to mics for recording all of the pieces of your kit, from the snare staple Shure SM57 to a set of Sennheiser e604 clip-on mics for your toms to the legendary Neumann KM 184 overheads.

All of these choices are solid options for anyone looking to mic a kit at home or in the studio, and though we're not going to get into where and how to place them in this piece.

1. Shure SM57

The Shure SM57 dynamic microphone has been a staple in studios the world over since it was first introduced to the market in the 1960s. It's often the go-to option for musicians looking for a mic capable of studio-quality recordings without breaking the bank.

With its unidirectional cardioid pattern, the SM57 reduces background noise and focuses on the sound it's pointed at—something it's slim profile and flat-topped grill also help facilitate. It's a great option (and one of the most popular) for mic'ing up your snare, adding just the right amount of low-end punch and mid-range crack to your tone.

As its something of a Swiss Army knife, you can also use the SM57 on your rack toms for solid results

2. RODE NT5

The RODE NT5 is the brand's flagship small-diaphragm cardioid condenser mic and come in a matched pair that make excellent drum overheads.

The RODE NT5s are very low self-noise mics with a flat frequency response, making for a super clear and detailed sound.

Because of the frequency response, you don't have to worry about the higher frequencies from your cymbals rolling off, which can sometimes be an issue with overheads.

3. Shure Beta 52A

The Shure Beta 52A is an industry standard when it comes to bass drum mics, with a reputation for delivering a super booming and meaty kick drum sound.

With its frequency response tailored specifically for bass drums, the 52A is perfectly suited to accurately capture your sound and send it straight to your mixer or DAW without the guesswork involved in corrective EQ. Truly all you need when it comes to capturing the kick

4. Sennheiser e604

The Sennheiser e604 three-pack set is a great way to get all of your toms mic'd up on a budget—even more so than mic'ing your toms with SM57s, as these come with clips and obviate the need for mic stands.

The Sennheisers are also impressive in what they can accomplish despite their size. Capable of withstanding high sound pressure levels, the e604s feature a very tight cardioid pattern that helps keep outside noises from the rest of the kit and room from bleeding in.

5. Neumann KM 184

If you're looking for something a bit the matched pair of RODE NT5s aren't quite what you're looking for as far as overheads go, or if you have a bit more money to spend, the Neumann KM 184 small diaphragm condenser mics are definitely worth checking out.

A modern update to the classic Neumann KM 84 i, the KM 184s offer a wide frequency response, high SPL handling, and super low self noise.

The resulting sound is super natural and accurate, making them a next-level option for drum overheads—and any number of applications beyond.

Suggested Pedalboard Order:

Tuner:

Always first to ensure you're tuning your guitar before the signal is altered by any other pedals.

Wah effects typically work best early in the chain, just after the tuner.

Compressor/Sustainer

Placing a compressor after the wah ensures it doesn’t squash the wah’s dynamic range.

Overdrive/Distortion
Typically follows the compressor as you want to shape your signal with distortion after compressing.

This goes after the overdrive/distortion to reduce any excess noise that might come from these pedals.

The best placement for a noise suppressor in your pedalboard depends on what noise you’re trying to eliminate.

Here are the two most common placements:
1. After High-Gain Pedals (Most Common Placement)
Place the noise suppressor after distortion, overdrive, and fuzz pedals but before modulation, delay, and reverb.
This setup eliminates unwanted noise from high-gain pedals while preserving the natural decay of reverb and delay.
Example Signal Chain:
Guitar → Tuner → Overdrive/Distortion → Noise Suppressor → Modulation (Chorus, Phaser) → Delay/Reverb → Amp

2. In the Effects Loop (For Amp Noise and High-Gain Setups)
If your amp has an effects loop, place the noise suppressor there to reduce hum or hiss coming from the preamp.
This is useful in high-gain amp settings (like metal).
Example Signal Chain:
Guitar → Overdrive/Distortion → Amp Input | Effects Loop Send → Noise Suppressor → Effects Loop Return

3. Dual Placement (For Maximum Noise Reduction)
Some noise suppressors (like the Boss NS-2) have a send/return loop, allowing you to clean up both the input signal (guitar noise) and the high-gain pedals' output.

Example Signal Chain with NS-2:
Guitar → NS-2 Input → NS-2 Send → Overdrive/Distortion → NS-2 Return → NS-2 Output → Modulation → Delay/Reverb → Amp

Usually works best after distortion and noise suppression, as it tracks well with an already shaped signal.

Chorus comes after octaver to add modulation to the harmonic signal.

Acoustic Simulator
If using this, it often works best towards the end of the signal chain to simulate an acoustic sound after all effects have been applied.

Reverb
Reverb is typically placed near the end of the chain to add space and ambiance to the overall sound.

Loop Station
The loop station should ideally be the last in the signal chain to record and loop the full processed sound.

DI Box:
It’s generally the last item before going to the amplifier or PA system. It converts your signal to a balanced one for better sound transmission.

Tuner → Pedal Wah → Compressor/Sustainer → Overdrive/Distortion → Noise Suppressor → Octaver → Chorus → Acoustic Simulator → Reverb → Loop Station → DI Box

JOE KIDD: THE SIP SIP SHOW

The Dude Puked On My Lap, keluaran fanzine Coalition.

Mulai Disember 2004, Carburetor Dung sekali menukar pemain dram.
